It really depends on what kind of counseling and coaching we engage in. In my practice, I combine the inner reflection of counseling with the outer directed goals of coaching. In this way, you set goals that are harmonious with who you really are. Coaching helps you create a new way of being in the world through new habits and goals, while counseling helps you understand how you’re reacting to that new life. It helps you make adjustments. As you become clear about what your heart wants, it’s easier to create the best life for who you are.
Being the single mother of 4 children, I certainly could have used some help. Since that help was unavailable at the time, I had to use my training as a Jungian psychotherapist, to watch myself and my kids stumble and dance through their growing up. I realized early on that since I was the parent, it was up to me to understand my kids’ needs as well as why they acted as they did. Children certainly act out their emotions, but parents play a big part in how they learn to handle things. Family C&C helps get families back on track so both parents and kids learn new habits and behaviors that help to resolve all those growing pains!
It’s always seemed strange to me that we were never taught the one thing most of us long for. How to be in a creative, strong and loving relationship. How can you engage with another person if you don’t know yourself well enough to be an equal partner? How do you recognize that your partner might have different ways of thinking and feeling? How do you communicate your truth if you’re afraid of being misunderstood? How do you shake off old expectations that usually lead to disappointment? Relationship C&C helps you create you own ‘relationship rule book’ that is flexible but structured to give everyone what they need.
The past 100 years have given women the right to vote but have not necessarily give women an equal place in society. While the feminist movement of the 60s tried to achieve that equality in the work world, it was based on masculine principles. Women today want to discover their own unique gifts and perspectives on life, a feminine perspective that includes masculine rationality but is based on feminine feeling and intuition. I work with women who want to learn to express the full truth of who they are.
All of us are born creative but for most of us that wasn’t high on the list of priorities our parents taught us about life. However, now that we have the time to develop our creativity, we can get stuck in the details and lose our vision, or be overwhelmed by the vision and can’t bring it down into manifestation. With my knowledge of symbolic language, mythology and the imagination, I can help you get through your creative blockages and become self-confident about your talents.
